Rome is a city, proud of its ancient rich heritage. Roman Empire Capitol was Rome. The empire was expanded throughout Europe, Africa, Asia. First-time visitors may be overwhelmed by all this magnificent city has, since you can find history and art on almost every street corner. That’s why I highly advise. to do your homework to narrow down what they want to see and do.
If you plan to drive in Rome while on vacation, DON’T DO IT!!!! It is very difficult to find parking spots around the Rome main attractions, meanwhile the public transportation is very handy and easy to use.

Rome
If you plan to drive in Rome while on vacation, DON’T DO IT!!!! It is very difficult to find parking spots around the Rome main attractions, meanwhile the public transportation is very handy and easy to use.
If you book your accommodation close to the “Rome Termini Railway Station” area, you can even walk to the most desired tourist attractions in Rome, except for the Vatican which is a bit far away.
Colosseum
If Paris is famous for Eiffel Tower, Colosseum is the first thing that comes to anybody’s mind when it comes to Rome. Largest Roman Empire structure still standing and a true spectacular architecture and model for any gathering arena which is one of the seven wonders in the world. Visiting Colosseum is your highlight of “Rome Top-rated Attractions”.
You need at least half a day to get the ticket, and explore this icon in Rome. In summer, the ticketing line is long and will take almost one hour to be able to enter. You will skip the line if you have prebooked the tickets. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes for moving easily on uneven surfaces. Guided tours are also available, but even a self guide with a rental audio earpiece will do the trick, plus it will be cheaper and you can move at your preferred pace.
Some other areas around the colosseum are also worth the visit. Such as: Arch of Constantine, Roman forums, Palatines, etc. I will talk about some of them in the following parts.
Vatican City
Vatican City is the smallest independent state in the world surrounded by Rome with just the Vatican wall in between. Inside are only St. Peter’s Basilica, St. Peter’s square, Vatican place and museums, and that’s it. The Capital of the Christianity faith, history and phenomenon historic items, museums and the Famous St. Basilica are the must see in Rome.
The lines to get tickets and enter the famous areas are incredibly long and would take hours, however arriving early will do the trick, plus you can book a three hour guided tour with a provided headset with different options of departure time in advance. If you planning too see all the areas, which I recommend, then allocate a whole for this adventure.
Roman Forums
Roman Forums is a huge area, but will take you back to thousands years ago of history and culture. The main place for Roman life, their areas of activities like makers, courts, governing offices, etc. Some important highlights of these areas are: Temple of Antonius Pius, Temple of Saturn, Temple of Vista and Castor and Pollux.
Roman Forums is located between Palatine and Capitoline hills. You can get a special ticket which gives you access to all three attractions of: Colosseum, Palatine and Roman Forums. The first buildings in Roman Forum were constructed from five centuries B.C and now more than 5 million tourists visit this site each year.
The Pantheon
Built more than 2000 year ago, The Pantheon is the best preserved structure left to us by Roman Empire. It still looks very strong and not old like other ancient sites.
Palatine Hill
In just a 5 minutes walk from Colosseum, you will visit another Roman antiquity site. You will use the same ticket you obtained to visit Colosseum. It has some evidence of the earliest Roman people’s life and cultures, such as stone cutting, etc which goes back to the Ninth century B.C.
It is one of the seven hills of ancient Rome and the enormity of the ancient Romans palaces are obvious. Palatine means palace.
Visiting this historic site, will complete the package of ancient sites in your “Top-rated Attraction in Rome”.
Trevi Fountain
Trevi Fountain is another iconic and picturesque among “Rome Top-rated Attractions in 3-Days”, from the 17th century masterpiece. One tradition is that tourists throw a coin (not several) that assures your return to Rome again. You will see the basin of the fountain full of coins. Fun facts about Trevi Fountain: More than 3000 euros are thrown into fountain water everyday and the money goes to charity when they collect them.
It is a crime if someone steals coins from the fountain. It is one of the oldest fountains in Rome and was built with the same material as the Colosseum.
Piazza Navona
Piazza Navona is also considered another famous icon in Rome, It has three fountains and church of St. Agnese. Around the square, anywhere else in the world, this church would be a main tourist attraction, but for a city like Rome where these types of places are abundant, the people will mostly care for the Navona square and its fountains. You will see cute restaurants. Shops and some live performing artists and musicians. Like Trevi Fountain, walking is the best way to get to this beautiful square.
Delicious Food
This will be the most delicious part of your visit of ” Rome Top-rated Attractions in 3-days”. It is obvious why!!!! Who doesn’t like Italian cuisine? Then what’s a better place than eating what locals are having in the heart of the Italy.
You cannot find any type of food trucks in Rome to have street foods. BUT!!!! Pizzerias are all over the place. Every corner you turn your head, you will see a cute pizzeria which they serve variety of different pizzas by PIECES!!!! Fresh, hot and ready!!! YAY!!! Then you can have different types of pizzas, anyway, anytime.
My most favorite one: CHOCOLATE PIZZA.
And of course, Italian cuisine is not just pizza. Everything you taste in Rome is pleasant. Pasta, Cazone, etc…There is no shortage of good food at all and you are in a good hands.
Summary
Rome will be an ultimate destination in Europe if you like ancient heritage sites, delicious food and your faith is Christianity. if you have 2-3 days more, then I highly recommend adding Amalfi Coasts which is less than 3 hours away from Rome and Venice which will complete your dream trip to Italy.
